I took my citizenship test during covid, December 2020. I too wanted to ace the test and was almost a little disappointed when they stopped asking questions after I got the first 6 correct. My “ceremony” consisted of returning to their offices, parking by the flagpole and flashing my headlights after which they came out with an envelope with my certificate along with a nice “welcome to the USA” letter from President Trump

I’m a little surprised no one suggested that the entire 100+ question test be required of all high school students at some time prior to graduating with at least 80% correct answers. Maybe if more kids came out of high school knowing more about the USA there would be fewer useful idiots attending the universities!

is my hearing that bad or did Bill really say Natasha got her citizenship in 2003?
I know that if he did say that it had to be a mistake by speech as he said clearly that she did the ceremony after covid.
please forgive me for being OCD

I heard the same thing. I believe Bill is a few years younger than me so it’s easy for me to forgive and over look the occasional slip of the tongue.

thanks, I too try to overlook those things because no one is more surprised some days when I realize what I just heard coming out of my own mouth

The answer to the question “why would a naturalized citizen love America more than a native-born citizen does?” seems obvious to me. The native-born citizen was born into his citizenship, didn’t have to earn it. It is much easier to take for granted something you’ve been handed, than something you’ve worked really hard for.

There is, of course, also the fact that native born American citizens just don’t know any better too. If all you’ve ever known is a pond then the ocean just seems like a big pond. It’s not. Both places are low spots filled with water but that’s about the end of the similarity. There are some pretty scary things in the ocean that can’t get to the pond. Familiarity breeds disdain, a prophet is never accepted in his own home town, that kind of thing. My personal experience has been that people who come here from elsewhere use a different… Read more »

Wait a minute 69% of US born citizens are proud to be Americans? That number is wayyyy higher than I would have expected – did the poll exclude Democrats?

If it includes Democrats then it’s a revealing bit of information. It tells us that the people in the Democrat Party are not all the America hating, child mutilating, weirdo advocating nitwits that the Democrat Party promotes itself to be. Which means that a lot of people who vote Democrat just aren’t paying attention to what they’re actually voting for. This is not particularly surprising. A lot of people vote the same party as their parents did. A lot of people vote on single issues. A lot of people don’t pay a lot of attention to the issues but still… Read more »

Been trying to figure that one out for years…

If we consider the results of the last Presidential election I’d have to say the Democrat Party is figuring it out for us. As long as they keep up the 80/20 split and keep forcing their own voters to wake up I see no reason why the situation will not continue to improve.

I was a younger surgeon sitting in the Doctor’s Lounge when I mentioned that my son was going to Woodward Academy here in Atlanta, Ga. An older physician across from me said he attended this school back when it was Georgia Military Academy. As the different schools where doctors were sending their kids were mentioned, he listed noted graduates from his class. From that year alone were Ivy League presidents (not woke at the time), a senator, a head of the department of defense, numerous famous doctors, lawyers, …, the list was beyond belief. Oh, and Ted Turner, who owned… Read more »
