No, seriously. We’ve had major disagreements with Meta’s policies in the past, but this latest act of generosity on the part of Mark Zuckerberg is beyond reproach.

I was waiting for the Jordie LaForge connection by one of the lads
This seems like a “win” all the way around. Yes, Meta gets a tax break to recoup their costs and get a positive image, but more importantly, they veterans who want these do get their independence back.
Overall, this is a good thing.
We’ve made the deaf hear with cochlear implants, so there is a way to attach “senses” – artificial imputs – to the brain. It’s just that the cochlea lends itself to serving as a serviceable link. The optic nerves don’t have such a convenient “plug” to marry the brain to a device. Yet.
Just to be the foil in this “Heart of Gold” story, I must wonder if this apparent “altruism” may not be driven by tax break incentives or similar financial drivers?!?!
Even if that is the case, it is still a wonderful thing for numbers of our countries’ best, who have suffered in our name!!!
Yes. It’s all about the money, both present and future. Like Google continues to demonstrate, human beings ARE the product, and anything to facilitate their monetization will be leveraged. Zuckerberg is not a lizard-man, he’s just another cog in the developing machine overlord predicted by The Matrix.
Yeah, I was thinking the cynical thought on this was they just signed up a bunch of beta testers that no one else can criticize, unlike the last go around of glasses going into bathrooms and such.
