There are times I wrestle with the idea of returning to the days of Agnews State Hospital (San Jose/Santa Clara , CA). Newsom loses 20 Billion during his tenure as Governor in California that was meant to go to homelessness. We’ve spent billions yet the people set up camps in ravines from San Diego to Weed, CA. It’s apparently not working. Freeway overpasses provide shelter to thousands in Southern California and in the bay area. So what would work? That’s what I wrestle with. Incarceration for the criminals? (of course) “Camps” (they can’t get out of) with acres of open… Read more »

you speak the Nonsense , it IS time for you to read what you type while not you hit the “post comment” button until?

There, I tried to put that in Kommie Donny Speak so you would understand it.

(My apologies to everyone else because I don’t speak Imbicilicus very well. It’s a hard language to master if you aren’t a natural born moron.)

I would say you’re right on target but … Imbicilicus is a challenge and a hazard to deal with. Best leave that to us professionals, this is a “don’t try this at home, boys and girls” situation.

Because …

If Kommie Donny starts making sense to you, you got big trouble.

The criminals have chosen punishment for themselves by virtue of choosing to commit criminal acts. It is not “imposed” by society but rather by the criminal himself/herself.

Crime statistics …

That is a laughable term. It should be obvious to all who can do a little math that statistics are regularly used to LIE and provide a false sense of security or confidence is a bogus conclusion.

“It’s not rampant.” ~Scott Ott

Tell that to the residents of Dearborn, MI; or Baltimore, MD; or London, England; or …

How naive can one person be?

I don’t think he meant it wasn’t bad, but that it wasn’t as wide spread in a city as some make it out to be. Alternatively, its not that 50% of the population are criminals, but that 5% they mention are just repeat criminals. Either way, either a heavier police presence in one part of a city, or the locking up of a small population, would go a great way toward eliminating most of the crime. Whether its catch and release of the mentally ill or the ignoring of protected groups of people (reports are still filed by victims, so… Read more »

It grieves me that we decided that letting the mentally ill go “free” (I.e. hit the streets) was considered compassionate. And I remember “One flew over…….” that movie villainized the staff at the institutions. I’m sure there was some of that…….. but it follows the same warped logic that led to the “Defund the Police” push.

Institutionalization for mental illness was started – in the manner it is today – by concerned Christians in England who felt it was a blight on society that we let our mentally ill population lay homeless in the cities. “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest” peeked into the challenges faced by those attempting to take care of the mentally ill and demonized them for their efforts. We assume that there must be a more humane method of help. I rotated through a month in a state mental institution during medical school. They were really trying to help (schizophrenics in particular)… Read more »

I wrote my post, then read down to yours. Ugh. I am so sorry about your fellow nerd friend.

To “care” for those who can not care for themselves…It’s a bigger challenge than Elon going to Mars. it will be the biggest challenge facing us all.

The only thing worse than having to care for someone who cannot care for themselves (elderly, mentally disabled) is trying to care for someone who is fighting you (also elderly, the insane, etc).
