Scott Ott brings us some good news and some bad news. The bad news is that more young people than ever are in favor of socialism over capitalism. The good news is, it’s not the economic theory; it’s the NAME that’s the problem.

Countering the “Free Enterprise” idea vs. “Woman’s right to choose” is deviously good. It may “abort” the discussion too soon, however. White women – keep in mind I chose to marry one and am fortunate she’s more conservative than me (and I’m right of Rush Limbaugh) – will feel cut off, not listened to, shut down, disempowered if you use logic and reason too early in conversation. Perhaps we could start with asking them how they felt about taxes going to pay for another’s abortion. Or the other’s sixth abortion. Or the other’s sixth child from a fourth man. Or… Read more »

The AI debate has ‘changed up’ this a lot. Neither capitalism or socialism stands. Initially everyone was talking Universal Basic Income but everyone including AI itself was saying these is nobody to tax. Money printing was mentioned and died because that just devalues money. The problem with that kind of animal is that we’ve all been inured to it and are “told” that’s “a person… Read more »

I found that with libertarian ideas (e.g., being left alone by the State). Idea-wise, they’d be on board. Mention “libertarian” and they’re gone.

I think that Scott’s take on this is absolutely inspiring. Makes me want to think a lot more about practical solutions to it.
