Back in 2017, certain celebrities refused to perform at the Kennedy Center in order to protest the 45th President. Now, in 2025, the 47th President is not only the new director of the Kennedy Center… he happens to be the same guy.

Trump should change the name to the “Trump Center” and add a display that includes a golden pedestal with a chunk of government cheese on it.
Gubmint news = propaganda. Gubmint handouts = graft/payola. Gubmint goals = mediocracy (at best, as not to offend anyone). Gubmint arts = enforced narratives, soooo No gubmint $ for art, NPR or PBS. Artists push Avant guard, while NPR/PBS push their own narratives. Fine, so let others w/similar views fund it, else, we get where the term “starving artists” comes from. The constitution is already there to … form a more perfect union via unified nation (not Marxist/Democrat class wars) establish justice via a system of courts and legal processes insure domestic tranquility via maintaining peace provide common defense via… Read more »
That bit about the levers of power gave me an idea. As Trump fires people he can give them there own little levers of power as a consolation prize. Hand them a set of nail clippers on the way out the door.
At the end of the vid Scott mentioned that there’s nothing wrong with the wealthy people of DC paying to support The Kennedy Center. I agreed with this until a few weeks ago. I’ve lived in DC since @ Y2K, and I never had any delusions about political graft. But after seeing so many huge houses in this area, and having been in a few over the years, and seeing how much taxpayer money has been laundered through USAID and many other govt. agencies, I wonder how much of this wealth is legit (as legit as political wealth can be,… Read more »
I was a busy musician through my teens and early twenties. Playing music was very important to me. But I knew that way meant poverty, poverty meant a lack of freedom and power, and a lack of the latter meant I wouldn’t be able to find a mate. (Girls that waited for me offstage didn’t happen until I fronted a band of medical student performers called “The Flashbacks”. Those girls were waiting for the future doctor, not the singing sax player.). People talented and dedicated enough to be performers in major orchestras should command a fairly good salary. Few do.… Read more »
Next is what was probably the reason that Trump went for The Kennedy Center. I was reading recently (I might miss a detail or two) that Trump appointed Sean Spicer as head of the Kennedy Center, with a term set to expire @ 11/21. Biden* decided to make Spicer resign in September to make room for whatever flunky was getting installed. Then things got interesting. Spicer took the Biden* administration to court. He lost. Spicer the took it to the appeals court, and again, he lost. But it now looks like a very tactical loss. Now there’s a precedent ruled… Read more »
A few points, and very different so I’ll write separate comments for each.
First, I agree with the govt. not spending $ on art, but that was in the old days. The Radical Left has put a flag on the arts, so anywhere in the arts & entertainment world that we stake a claim is ground they don’t own. And any Leftist funding & energy going into attacking The Trump Plaza Kennedy Center are resources not being spent on spreading drag queen story hours
I am a tupiphile.. (Greek for cheese lover) Government cheese us ok for normal mac and cheese. Not much else.
That is true ONLY if one defines “normal mac and cheese” as substandard and nigh-inedible mac and cheese.
What I call “normal mac and cheese” is indeed substandard and barely edible. There is some good stuff out there without getting too fancy, but far too many restaurants serve mac and cheese that makes you wonder why they bother, and wonder why you eat it, other than it’s there and “people are starving in Africa”.
I never met a cheese I didn’t like.
I never meet a cheese I found to be truly bad. Just some better than others. Mozzarella on pizza or pasta only. Provolone and Colby is low on my list. On top, I’m no particular order: gruyere, stilton, limburger, Tillamook extra sharp cheddar (actually melts without separating. Wonderful grilled cheese) cotswold, Bourbon Bellavitano (fairly local.soaked in bourbon.also coated in herbs or soaked in other booze)Shropshire Blue, double Gloucester, Boursin (garlic cream cheese), gjetost and Snofrisk. Want to try Stinky Bishop. Have a local store Jingle Jim that carries international stuff, including cheeses. Every time I go, I try a cheese… Read more »
