There is a difference between skill and talent. One is achieved and one is natural. This drummer has both. I play well enough on guitar to teach lessons, but I will never play like many of the greats. I have learned that comparison can be the thief of joy, so I am content to just have fun with music while fully appreciating those with skill and talent.

Is he the Heifetz or the Gretsky of the drums?

Okay Bill, I’ve got one for you. Find Lee Sedgwick online. He is the single greatest kite flyer enthusiast you will ever see. I met him about 30 years ago when he lived in Erie Pa and flew his quadruple Revolution kites (4 lines) along the shore. He “literally” dances with the kites. An artist of a sort.

‘To achieve something that simply looks impossible’ – also happens with juggling. Watch the elite achievers and your jaw is on the floor and your brain quickly following.

I believe that there is a more subtle physical factor required for this level of performance, and that is (to quote The Matrix), “His neural kinetics are way above normal!” I have always read “neural kinetics” as speed of thought.

The guitar equivalent is Tommy Emanuel. The first time I saw him live I went home and sold my guitars. The despair factor.

Well my guy is still Carl Palmer (of Emerson Lake & Palmer fame)! Much of the drumming flair you see from Siberiano, Carls shows here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBfDJwLIeRY. Plus at 71, Carl is still the best! All amazing, but I got to stick with the guy from my era. 🙂 Plenty of videos showing the Carl is not of this world. He still tours and is a test of time of his talent.
