The IRS has ruled that it would not be a violation of a church’s tax exempt status if it were to openly endorse a specific political candidate — by name. But just because you CAN do something doesn’t necessarily mean that you SHOULD do something.

I think Bill, Scott and Steve have this completely wrong. This country was founded on politics in the churches. At the beginning where were the two places people met, taverns and churches. And we can see when the churches gave up on politics the country went to crap. In my grandparent’s day (whatever was before boomers) the Christians left politics, completely. They said it was a dirty profession and being a politician was not compatible with being a Christian because they thought it corrupted people. And it does in a lot of cases. But often those people had no morals… Read more »

The rest of “Render to Caesar” story . .. The next question is, What has the image of God impressed upon it? Shouldn’t we be rendered to God?

First of all, that Johnson amendment was inserted into another law after Johnson was angry with pastors who said that one needed to look at the roots to see who they are voting for–and said that Johnson’s roots were bad. So Johnson did this to shut them up. Second point is that church congregations are supposed to be people growing in their faith and in application of God’s Word to their own lives. Thus they should be made aware of what they are voting for–godly principles or ungodly. This is not about politics–it is about principles. Christians should know that… Read more »

I totally agree with you guys. I am a Roman Catholic and I asked my priest last October merely to remind his parishioners to vote last November. That’s all-just to remember to vote. He said “no”, he would not even do that from his pulpit. He said that our archbishop wanted ALL priests to stay away from ANY political messages-period. I too am a big believer in the first Amendment-but NOT with taxpayer money-the very basis of federal and state tax exemption.

And I will add most of the signers of The Declaration of Independence were Christians. All the first political leaders were Christians.

I have never liked politics but I would encourage you to read David Barton’s book America’s Beginnings. It is a historical account of our Christian founding as a nation. There is plenty of documented examples of Pastors preaching about politics, war, you name it. Our founding documents, our 3 branches of government all come from the Bible. God gives us instructions to pray for those in authority, to obey the authorities, to represent His Kingdom here on earth so He is involved in how we govern. He lifts up leaders and removes leaders, He establishes the nations so our churches… Read more »

I love that you mention David Barton! I discovered him decades ago, on Glenn Beck’s show on Fox. As to the subject, I have been struggling to find a new church after my very small one dissolved during Covid. I am discouraged to learn, after 3 or so visits, that so many churches are woke. I do not want to invest time and commitment to a church, and find that social wokeness has corrupted it. To that degree, I appreciate knowing where a church stands on traditional Biblical values.

Yup, here we go, I knew we’d get here eventually. “MY freedom can only be accomplished with violence because ____.” That’s actually a very common saying among Sovereign Citizens and Donny didn’t come up with that. But he means it nonetheless. I’ve said that Komrade lil’ Donny’s Sovereign Citizen ideology must only ever lead to violence. That the more sincere someone is about the Sovereign Citizen malarkey and the more faithfully they adhere to it the sooner and the greater the violence. And surprise, surprise. Here’s our ol’ buddy Komrade lil’ Donny threatening violence over a freakin’ seatbelt. He thinks… Read more »

LOL, you don’t know anything about Russia. You don’t even know “Russia” is a proper noun and should be capitalized. The education you got from the back of a box of Fruit Loops has failed you again.

You do a marvelously entertaining job of beclowning yourself. Thanks for the chuckle, chucklehead.

Ah, the old and threadbare argument that “labor” owns everything it ever touches. Because, you know, underwear gnomes and all that fun stuff. How very adorably Communist of you Komrade lil’ Donny. Karl Marx, Josef Engels, Vladimir Lenin and Iron Joe Stalin are smiling up at you from the flames of hell. See why I call you “Komrade”, Komrade lil’ Donny? Might it be that I already knew you’re more than a little bit Kommie, Komrade? Why yes, it might be just that. I like the touch of blasphemy you managed to work into that too. Even though the way… Read more »
