So it’s back on again with Iran — for the third time, depending on how you count the various ceasefires, overtures, discussions and ultimatums. Can someone remind us why we are talking to these Mullah’s in the first place?

There has been 47 years of diplomacy and all it achieved was we (damaKKKrats) financed our own terrorists attacks. So diplomacy is done. Here’s how it should end. Destroy all the air defenses – done Destroy all the air offensives – done Destroy their Navy – done Destroy every leader, every IRGC general, colonel, major Destroy all their command and control communications Destroy their bridges, roads, rails, ports Destroy their income producing infrastructure Destroy the electric and energy producing. Let them fight in the dark, & 120 heat. Destroy their water desalination and purification. Let them all die of thirst.… Read more »
Hey Scott the US has only declared war 3 times. So all those other wars were illegal? Quit living in some fake universe
With Japan and Germany there was an effort at conquest initiated by the opposing forces. We didn’t initiate WW2. With Iran there was constant “Death to America” talk and nuclear weapon pursuit that was about to reach fruition. My lifetime has been spent hearing the former. Disabling the Iranian nukes has been more problematic than we thought, complicated by the possibility that China might just give them one. In Iran there was a well-documented cadre of Persians who wanted the U.S. to intervene. The killing of tens of thousands of them on TV was horrifying, especially when they were crying… Read more »
Both Trump and the crown prince Reza Pahlavi have ordered the people of Iran to NOT rise up or go onto the streets in protest. That will get them killed. It makes it easy for the Twelvers to move around hiding in crowds. It make US/ Mossad commando attacks harder. It raises the risk of friendly fire from both covert partisans and air assets. You will not get a D Day or conventional war. That is technologically obsolete. The partisans are moving about with forged Iranian ID of perfect quality. They have untraceable Iranian weapons so if caught they can… Read more »
Trump’s vanity makes him think he can “make a deal” with anyone and come out on top. You can’t make a deal with Iran. Because the standards and values Trump would as per his lifelong experience apply as a basis for dealing are not applicable to those peolple. You can either hurt them so badly they cower in fear or you might as well not bother. In that part of the world there are only two modes for people like the Iranian despots: Fear of destruction or go on the attack. You can choose which but those are your choices. The… Read more »
Rose-colored glasses here, admittedly with mud-spatter on them. We will fail at mud hole stomping. The best chance to an outcome favorable to Trump would be internal uprising. The faction running the government is, …, what, …35%, less a few hundred since the exploding beepers and the bombings? As I stated above, the thought-to-be-large number of Iranians opposed to the mullahs has been a huge disappointment. That is where victory should be won. Better efforts and successes in this area are desperately needed.
But we’ll just bomb and bomb again, apparently.
“The best chance to an outcome favorable to Trump would be internal uprising.” Your bias is obvious. I know you and many others are Trumpians but Trump is not America. What is most desirable, and therefore the goal to be worked towards, is what is the best outcome favorable to the United States and our allies. Which is not the same thing as what’s most favorable to Trump. The two may or may not coincide but they are not mutually inclusive. Wishing for “an internal uprising” is just more of that projecting our values onto people who do not share… Read more »
Your viewpoints, once again, are better referenced than mine. I remember how relatively modern and thriving Afghanistan’s larger cities were in the 1950s. (Life Magazine) Same with Iran under the Shah in the 1970’s. (Life Magazine) Both societies took a hit turning transgressive, following the mullahs. Like Cuba, there are people who remember. As weak as they are, you’d think there’d be an uprising. Westerners like me are too quick to predict people will make decisions that are in their best interests, Christians or not. I’ve told people that if I was a practicing Muslim and my daughters were on-line… Read more »
Those pictures you recall from Life Magazine and such only gave a very shallow and superficial view of the situation in those countries.. National Geographic did a much better job of depicting a truer representation while unfortunately still being a bit rosier than reality. The actual truth is something Trump got right when he described those places as “third world shit hole counties” Life Magazine and National Geographic are more entertainment than education and Life the greater culprit between the two. Don’t feel bad, I never realized any of this until I actually got to such places and had a look… Read more »
I agree in theory that Trump should have gone to Congress for a war declaration, but I think TDS would have stopped it. Even with Iran declaring war, being traced killing US troops, and traced to some IEDs ….which is in effect a land mine….which is considered a war crime. …and much more. I would have been tempted to point that out, showing they were an enemy. And then just apparently that not declaring war on an enemy could possibly giving them aid, which would be treason. Anyone besides me remember what is the only crime mentioned in the Constitution… Read more »
Dang it you’re playing the wrong 5D chess. Why is this not obvious? We take a week to kill the big weapons systems and bunkers. It then takes two weeks for the Twelvers to stand up replacements and for our agents to find out where they are and what new bunkers entry’s they have dug up. Then we bomb it again! The diplomacy is about provoking conflict between the Twelver factions. We have 4 factions: The boots = IRGC army; the Turbans = The ayatollah, the mullahs and the committee of experts. Half are dead already; The suits = the… Read more »
What’s with this “we” shit? You have a kangaroo in your pocket there Aussie? Last time I checked Australia was not involved directly in bombing anyone anywhere. You’re too busy trying to pay for your absurd National Health system, which doesn’t work, to buy bombs. Let alone deliver them on a reliable basis. Your military people, such as they are, are actually quite good at the tactical level. They are hampered by being controlled by idiots in a nation of nincompoops. The rest of what you said is just silly Oz bullshit mixed in with some obvious truths to give… Read more »
It must be remembered that Allah, Mohammed and the Koran all offer no penalty for lying, false dealing and deception. In fact, in Islam, to do any of these things is not just “allowed” but rather required, if it is done to advance the agenda of Islam on the world stage!!! Please tell me how you can possibly sit at a bargaining table and expect any durable accord to come from that?!?!
True but if you know that you can manipulate them. There were riots at the ayatollahs funeral because some there were was talking to Trump and others did not get Taqiyya. Second cousin marriages does have an effect on IQ. You just have to know when to lie back. Trump’s really good at that.
