The Woke Generation: Unhappy, Anxious and Depressed

…And that, says Steve Green, is according to SCIENCE. Part of this is the old chicken and the egg conundrum: do unhappy people gravitate to Woke political positions, or does going Woke doom you to a life of misery and dissatisfaction? One thing needs to be kept in mind though: these poor kids didn’t raise themselves.

I’m very concerned about the current younger generations, Gen Z and their young siblings. I remember being that age; everything is dark hyperbole, tragic, no hope in sight and that was 50 years ago before wokeness was in full control of the schools. These kids have been systematically propagandized to believe junk science regarding the weather, misinformed about the history of the founding of this nation, misled by the voices of race-baiters like BLM, Hamas supporters and their mouthpieces in the media, and medicated and shuffled into therapy sessions since they first set foot in a classroom at the tender… Read more »

Like the alleged chicken/egg “dilemma.” We know the chicken came first from Genisis 1:24-25 (God-haters notwithstanding), the wokeness is a conscious choice, and is clearly the cause. GI/GO. Bad choices result in harmful consequences.

What’s wrong with you people? I managed to shield all of my family from the consequences of “wokeness”.
Psych.
Just kidding.
They’re all a mess about “the crazy” inhabiting their world.

I’d say that this is a classic “healing power of AND” situation. It may be that the depressive mindset prompts the wokeist attitudes, but then, holding those attitudes deepens the depression and so on and so forth. It’s recursive.

Steve, I don’t know if it was intentional or not, but your wrap-up just perfectly described Greta Thunberg!

Well, she’s autistic, so that’s a bit of a mitigating factor.

I’d say it may better qualify as an enhancement.

I don’t know if I agree that going woke is causing more anxiety and depression among children. If you look at everything that is being thrown at kids — that humans are destroying the Earth, that white children are oppressors due to their skin color, that one can change their sex on a whim, that the USA is the leading global oppressor — it’s little wonder they’re sad and afraid. What positive, steadfast ideals are they being taught? It used to be that if you did something stupid at school, only your fellow schoolmates knew about it. With social media… Read more »

Yeah I think that for older people, already with certain attitudes, woke gives them a label for the things they already thought. For the younger adults and children it is not a chicken and egg problem but as Bill mostly put it, they were pushed; they did not become this way themselves.

I like Bill’s too; “offended by everything and ashamed of nothing.”
