In the flurry of patriotic self-reflection on our nation’s 250th anniversary, one thing in particular caught Bill’s attention: The irreplaceable Glenn Beck’s passionate history of Thomas Jefferson’s first draft of the Declaration of Independence. Glenn’s story knocked Bill’s socks off so hard it thought it needed to be told as far and as widely as possible… and so here it is.

When you squarely dismissed State’s Rights as a reason for the South’s succession, and you were right that slavery was a pre-eminent cause, you should see Matt Walsh’s “Real History” episode on the Civil War. I had no idea that New England had threatened to leave the Union 5 times before the South went the whole way. And there were many, many Northern slaves. And the Colonies imported only a very, very small percentage of the Slaves that crossed the Atlantic. And New England’s fleets profited the most on passage. Matt Walsh’s “Real History” series is great. I highly recommend it for anyone who would like accurate details and a clearer perspective on historical events in this country.

We watch “1776” every year.

Some years, I wonder if the Declaration will be adopted. Fortunately, it is every time.
