When you were young and dreamed about the wonders the future would hold, did they include an army of AI Agents checking the weather forecast three days in advance and updating your cooking and purchasing agents to plan accordingly for just the right mood? No? Well, Mrs. Green is waaaaayy ahead of you.

It’s such a time of high and lows: of enormous possibilities in both directions. Over-reliance on fast-driving AI-assisted coding has taken the creativity and fun out of my day job. Meanwhile, I’ve been having the time of my life bringing up a team of Grok Bots to help me build a side hustle to ultimately replace it. I’ve got a “Coach” that knows my projects and goals and checks in with me every morning on next steps, while other bot monitor the app sales revenue I’m trying to build, alert me to non-spam customer support email, search X and reddit… Read more »
The fun side of this is great. But in all seriousness, don’t let your bots have access to bank accounts, credit cards, etc…. This would especially include credentials that your browser caches for you. You may end up with unexpected purchases or cleaned out bank accounts. AI can be overzealous at times and make unwarranted assumptions.
Steve’s audio was fine on the Backstage vide but not on this one.
I would like a bot that would comb through reputable sites looking for projects I could apply to; I am a software consultant and finding projects is getting tough.
I would have to name my bot and not just call it Chief of Staff or just Chief. Maybe I would call it Eddy as it is a computer of some sort, or maybe call it Skynet.
I have a friend who just can’t wait to have an AI robot to do all of her housecleaning, and another to allow her to sleep while it drives her places. I just shook my head. I asked her about her housecleaning bot, what are the parameters? She said that it’s sole job would be to keep the house clean, and to cook. I asked her how long she thought it would take before her AI house bot figured out that the one thing that was standing in the way of it completing it’s mission… was you! It could then… Read more »
I’ve heard about Alexa, Bixby, Gemini, Siri, Cortana, Alice … So, based on Bill’s comment, would his “Chief of Staff” bot be named – Hillary? ;-/ Just dipping my toes in water: I must admit that AI can do some very cool things – even in the free-tier. I’ve asked it to summarize, compare, research, and even step-by-step derive non-linear differential equations for tailored applications. Amazing! I’ve even fed free-tier versions 2D images (pencil sketch aircraft designs) and had “3D” graphics pop-out with little to no guidance and often < 1 min of time (see example below). Dang, if I’d… Read more »
I view Steve’s rehashing of Melissa’s staff of bots as sort of a permission slip. It never occurred to me to set up anything at all. At first, I thought about how I can already scan any fridge and pantry and whip something up. (All defensive and proud, ya know). Then I realized there are a billion recipes out there and a couple might be better than mine. Extending the scope away from food, I thought about all of the events and shows out there that I could go to around my Appalachian environs, 95% that don’t interest me at… Read more »
I got an email sunday morning telling me that the most recent backstage episode had dropped and I still haven’t gotten it on my login page. I think I am about done.
I’ve posted references to the hit-and-miss nature of the content on this site too. I can’t say I’m happy about it but … I’m not here to be entertained by the content. I come here because I like talking to you, Harry, “Ron SAE”, Phil, Doc Jackson etc. I come here because this is one of the last places on the internet where I can speak my mind, in the manner I prefer to speak it and in the means and tone I would use in real life face-to-face, without censorship or interference from moderators and keyword filters. The videos… Read more »
I think that I too come very much for the interactions in the comments.
Mainly, but not exclusively with you.
I even mentioned this about getting more people to subscribe.
And one person responding to me about one of better comments even said that its the main reason they subscribe.
We should get GROK to collate ACTS (TM)’s “Best Of” and name it “Sniper’s Corner”.
You couldn’t be a slow reader, it would take a while.
Come to think of it, you might have to keep it for later, like when you’re recovering from an injury and the television is on the fritz.
So would “Sniper’s Corner” be The Book of ACTS? Oh wait, I think that one is already taken 😉
Bill is actually correct that he should set up some BOTs to do the drudgery of editing and uploading the vids. I don’t use it much but what little I have done I have found that any step-by-step process that you repeat is the easiest type of thing to farm out.
Maybe I should send Scott a text and have him help with it.
That’s a good idea, if Bill could automate a bunch of his work on the site — that would have to be a major win for Bill.
*sniffs*
LOL, try not to get too emotional 🙂
Have you sent an email to the contact us address?
The reason I ask is that none of the guys check the site very often.
If Bill thinks he posted it (and since you got the email he must) then he very likely doesn’t know that it is not posted.
Like I tell my clients when they have an issue but don’t tell me; I am working on exactly zero of the problems about which I am unaware.
Shelley will get the email and let Bill know.
Steve, How’s that “Tin-can & String” Microphone working out for you?
Yeah, cool topic, abominable audio.
