While the second-largest city in the United States was burning to the ground under merciless Santa Ana winds, L.A. Mayor Karen Bass was in Ghana, attending some function completely unrelated to the city. As Scott Ott points out, Bass is so spectacularly incompetent and out of her depth it probably didn’t matter one iota if she was present or not at the time.

I couldn’t find any other place to report technical issues, so here it is. Several times recently, the video stops in the middle and the only way to continue it is to reload the page, watch TWO MORE adds, then move the needle close to where it was. Today, while looking for the place to report issues, I noticed that the menus are transparent, and meld into the headline at the top! As always, I enjoy the content. I just thought you should be made aware. I am on the most recent version of the Chrome browser.

I’m running the latest version of Chrome on a W10 Pro OS. I don’t have any ad or script blockers active on this site. Just a clean, unfiltered connection between me and BW.C I see no ads, I have no problem playing video. The site serves no ads to members logged in behind the paywall. I am on Windows 11 PC with no ad or script blockers. I do not use a VPN when visiting the site. I do have Nord VPN installed, but only use it (turn it on) once in a while. My malware is one of the best out there, Vipre. It was a pioneer in the ability to recognize a virus by how it behaves, without the need to have it in a database before-hand. There’s a good reason why cautionary fables like “The Ant and the Grasshopper” used to be taught in school and were always a basic part of our culture. California and emphatically Los Angeles are what you get when the grasshoppers elect grasshoppers. The ants wanted and voted to spend tax money on reservoirs full of water and other fire mitigation methods against a day of need. One small hope. Some of the rich and glitterati lost their homes. If they get vocal, those “stupendous, wonderful people who are so much better than the rest of us,” may actually change something.
