Scott, you’re correct, anyone that opposes this give away will be vilified by the left as heartless. However, I think the statistic was 87% of the population that is NOT going to receive this benefit.
How about instead of talking about how awful Biden is for giving OUR tax money away, we reach out to the 87% of voters that are getting stuck with the tab and incourage them to cast their ballot in response to this obvious unlawful presidential act.
What the heck makes ANYONE believe a president can do this? There is nothing that makes student debt subject to an executive order – or a demented president’s wishes.

The President has no power to do that. Most of student loan debt is held by the government and Congress controls the purse. I’m all about making borrowers do the right thing and pay off the debt they have incurred. But it’s kind of weird. Give billions of dollars to universities in the form of a loan to the students, and by fiat, just “erase” those loans off the books of the Treasury. It sounds like you’re trying to get someone to explain/justify irresponsible spending. That’s not going to happen, there is no justification for irresponsible spending. However, simply because a great deal of irresponsible spending has happened and looks like it will continue to happen — Doesn’t mean legitimate spending should come to a screeching halt. Higher education – paid for by taxpayers. Earn much more money – find ways to decrease tax responsibility, snivel every time taxes are “raised on the rich.” Yep. Makes do-do sense to me.

There is a reckoning underway for colleges across the country. With the internet having the facility to expose us to better teachers, better curriculums, and less overhead to accomplish the feat, most of the brick and mortar destinations will fail. The whole point of a university is to SELL you an education that you can use to improve your life. It is a transactional situation. You buy such an education with the idea that the returns on the investment will far outweigh the costs. Some people are trying to BUY that product and are paying for it but not getting it.
