Is the Kathleen Kennedy Nightmare Finally Over?

She’s killed off more loved ones than the Bubonic Plague. She’s utterly wrecked what was once the most valuable IP in the world. For 13 years she has brought her venom, her bitterness and her feminism (but I repeat myself) to Lucasfilm and systematically destroyed what used to be the very heart of pop culture. Now, for the fourth or fifth time, she says she is about to step down. Is it too late?

I’ll take Bills’ analogy on the legacy one step further – KK turned Luke into the Creepy Old Guy from Family Guy, Leia into Hillary Clinton (failed diplomat, failed politician, failed wife, failed mother), and Han & Chewie into Jay & Silent Bob. Not content with killing these characters, she dug up Obi Wan’s body to defile his corpse in the Reba series, which was inexplicably named after Ben even though he was only the third most significant character in the series. Andor was actually very good, but aside from that and Rogue one, Disney Star Wars has been crap.… Read more »

“Star Wars” has a “canon”? Maybe in the religion of marketing. (Joseph Campbell and the hero with a thousand faces, sure.) Since “Jar-Jar”, “Power Rangers” is just as worthy
BTW, I wrote a long, well thought out comment yesterday on my day off work and a red sentence came up saying commenting is closed.

Personally, I hit that “don’t care” moment many years ago. It was sad back then. It’s still sad now. Just like Bill explained, it’s the feeling you get like in a bad relationship.

I posted this on steve’s PJ article, but it is way too late. the fan base has been f’d over and told that they don’t matter.
The only possible way to resurrect this zombie would be to ignore everything other than the first three films and rogue one and start over with everything else.
Basically call everything other than New Hope/Empire/Return/Rogue1 as non-canon and reboot from there.
Then, maybe.
But not likely.

That could work (and I’d be on-board for it)…. But I doubt it. I think it’s too late.

You would have to, as Scott says, pretty much hire a new team with a solid back catalog, a writer that starts with a “mea culpa” though more in a “they screwed up, we learned from their lessons, and here is our new vision” interview, and then convince everyone that in 3-4 years they will have a movie / series in the model of the old, and Disney and their woke nonsense and idiot C-level panderers won’t be involved. You’d still have a bunch of people saying “ok, when/if you do that and if I already have the streaming service… Read more »

You can keep the prequels (Revenge… is better than …Jedi, and if you watch …Clones on DVD and skip every Anakin/Padme scene on Naboo it becomes a way better movie.
The simple step that they’re too proud to do is use two obvious trilogies – Timothy Zahn’s Thrawn trilogy, and Drew Karpashian’s Darth bane trilogy.

The South Park episode about her (Kennedy) is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen and more to the point … Well deserved mockery of Kathleen Kennedy’s bullshit approach to entertainment properties.
