Hot Mic returns in its non-NRA incarnation after eight long years! First up, a look at the epidemic of drug overdose deaths per capita: it’s a map of ever-growing suicide and despair. We’ll talk about what might be causing it, and more importantly what it represents and how we can stop it.

My opinion is that the lack of jobs and resulting hopelessness leading young Americans to turn to drugs is absolutely the reason. The other factor is that methamphetamine is highly addictive by the first dose, nearly hopelessly so by dose #2. Sending out jobs to our enemies so that we can get cheaper stuff has consequences. I’m free market, free trade and think America has lifted many ships on the economic ocean of the world, but we have not replaced jobs, working at Starbucks is not cutting it. The Dems promise to just tax the rich and give everyone their… Read more »

“Bread and circuses” are a proven political strategy. You’d think after a few thousand years of this stuff we’d have learned better by now. Perhaps that explains the Left’s hatred of real history and their effort to supplant it with revisionist lies. Real history is truth, or as close to it as we can come. Truth is toxic to the Left and they attack it on all fronts.

Always appreciate you taking the comments section seriously, ACTS. What floors me is how the Left hasn’t abandoned “the rich don’t pay their fair share” meme. Last I checked, 5% of tax payers pay 95-98% of the taxes. Any change in the tax code would have to affect the rich disproportionately. Whoever doesn’t know this is willfully ignorant. Of course, that is the Left’s base.

Good on you, Bill. I am interested. What can we do to re-engage youth with meaning in their life?

Without any intention of diminishing your message of “meaning” as a requirement for human flourishing, I believe it is important to note that the exponential spike in deaths in the past decade is primarily due to the introduction of fentanyl to our society. This is more than just loss of individual meaning. It is due to a concerted effort by foreign powers (i.e., China’s CCP) to undermine our country’s sovereignty and strength. Unfortunately, we will always have illicit drug users in our country. There will always be those who pursue the “easy” thrill and high to escape the mundane and… Read more »

I’ll have to take your word for it about CCP’s duplicity in the spike. Let’s not neglect however, the complete irresponsibility of the Biden-Harris administration’s day 1 rescinding all executive orders relating to the border which had been put in place by Trump. Cackle-uh has so much freaking blood on her hands.

Don’t take my word. Rather listen to the following interview on Epoch Times:

Pay wall didn’t have any impact. Thanks for the link. That CCP refers to us as ENIMIES is a very, very big deal. Deeply disturbing to this American Vet. AND O’Blow-me & company have made it quite clear our borders, particularly the southern, are but caricatures of National Boundaries.
