Obama wanted someone who would not outshine him so he selected Biden. Biden wanted someone who would not outshine him so he selected Harris. Harris wanted someone who would not outshine her, so she passed on Josh Shapiro.

Great discussion as always, gentlemen.
Stephen I must correct you: Stacy Abrams was the President of Earth not the head of the Federation of Planets. You have hereby been docked 10 Trekkie points.
Bill ‘n Hill were a RICO organization; Barack may have been smart but he was a post turtle; Biden has always been post turtle; Kamala was just PhD post turtle. (Piled higher and deeper)
Bill, GREAT explanation as to how STUPIDITY and INCOMPETENCE infect institutions, like our governments (Fed, State, County and City), like a cancer!
Keep getting the truth out!!
Good comment, Scott, about the sign!!!
Crooked Joe outshone the Cackler.
If Shapiro ran we wouldn’t have had Trump II. The only way Dems lose is by nominating murderers and idiots. (Biden won because of a romanticized past and the press lying that he was competent.). There are just too many “I want your stuff” folks out there than “I earned my stuff and want to keep some of it” people.
BTW, we’re still on generators and digging out from fallen trees up here in the southern Appalachians. No media for four days. I don’t feel as dirty as before. (Read a couple great books!)
We got lucky in SW VA. 5 inches of ice and power outages not nearly as bad as previous ice storms.
Single digit temps will kill my heating budget but better than the alternative.
What did you read? Need something next.
Last read was Redshirts by John Scalzi as recommended by ACTS and someone else on here. Clever but I almost didn’t start. In the credits he sings the praises of Wesley Crusher.
But it was ultimately pretty good.
If you haven’t already read it, read “Up From Slavery” by Booker T Washington. Its my last read.
Trying to finish a book with all of Edgar Allen Poes writing. More than half done. But only about 2-3 so far I had not read before. Also recommend Poe’s “The Gold Bug” if you haven’t read it. Very early pirate tale. Pre “Treasure Island” And I had read that before.
Usually I read non-fiction, but I detoured during the power outage. One book was “West with Giraffes” by Lynda Rutledge. Another was “A Gentleman in Moscow” by Amor Towles. My wife read them in book club and recommended both.
A Gentleman in Moscow was also a miniseries. Very well done and acted.
I liked all of “The Old Man’s War” series by Scalzi better than Redshirts but Redshirts was fun.
If you’re looking for something else and haven’t read it “Hunter’s Run” by Daniel Abraham, Gardner Dozois and George R. R. Martin is pretty good.
The problem with Veep was that its point was to slander Sarah Palin. Their problem is that they end up satirizing their own side, as occurred with the movie Wagging the Dog, which was supposed to be about Bush, but ended up being about Clinton.
Just to be clear. They were not pro-Palestinian protesters, they were pro-Holocaust protesters. They were essentially cheering on raping Jewish girls to death and gouging out the eyes of Jewish children in front of their parents, as occurred the day before the protests started. And Harris cheered them on.
Yes, we need to stop ceding the language to the Left.
Not Pro-Choice, Pro killing babies.
Not Pro-Palestine, Anti-Israel and Anti-Semetic.
Not Anti-ICE, Pro-rapist, pedophile, gang, drugs, murdering bass turds.
You get the idea.
Lol @ felonious fish fecal fatalities … You can say “bastards” in here. This is one of the few places on the internet that doesn’t submit us to the tyranny of the word filter list. Which is one of the many reasons I’m willing to pony up for the subscription.
Scott told me once that there’s only one word that’s on that list and he assumes no one would use it anyway. I haven’t found that word yet but then there are words even I won’t use in polite company so it’s probably one of those.
If I were a betting man, I’d bet the word is “the F bomb”, which I refuse to use, unless I was acting as a character who would use it.
And I might be reluctant to play that character.. It depends.
That would be my guess too but I wouldn’t know for sure because that’s a word I’ve never tried to post.
I’d be really interested to know two things: Was Tim Walz asked if he was a CCP agent? And, what his response was?
My bet the answer to the first question is ‘no’. Making the second question moot.
This is why we can’t have nice things.
