How beloved was Parton? Even the radical Leftist publication The Nation is trying to claim her as an old fashioned union girl
Ben Shapiro played some interview clips. Dolly said that one of the times that she and her mom went into to town, she saw a woman who had the hair, the long red nails, and the gaudy clothes. Her mom said that she was trash. Dolly thought that she was beautiful and she wanted to look like that.
Thank you for acknowledging the death and more importantly the life of Dolly Parton. Great Americans need to be recognized and you did a good job, gentlemen.
We were backing out of our driveway when the announcement was made that Dolly had passed away. Immediately after that, they played the duet of “I Will Always Love you” that she did with Vince Gill. The tears began pouring down my face. My sister was in the back seat and my husband was driving. Every one of us began to cry. I am 76 years old, and Dolly has been here all of our lives. I’ve never seen so many tributes from people around the world. Thank you, God, for sharing this angel with us for so many years.
She was very classic and will be missed greatly.
If you have not heard her “Rockstar” album, go give it a listen or buy the double CD. While most of the songs are covers and duets, she sounded like she was having way too much fun singing and performing those songs.
I also liked the update to “9 to 5” called “5 to 9” she did for a Super Bowl commercial a few years ago.
RIP, Dolly.
My sister is a HUGE Dolly Parton fan and like Bill that does not necessarily stem from a preference for country music. It had a lot more to do with who and what Dolly was than it did with her music. Dolly’s music was but a single facet in a diamond. My sister and her family would go to Dollywood every year (which they called “Pigeon Forge”BTW) and bring me back a souvenir of some sort. My sister cried when she told me about Dolly Parton dying. The world needs people like Dolly Parton the same as it needs hard… Read more »
We vacationed in Pigeon Forge a few summers ago had had an amazing week without even coming close to Dollywood. My highlight was a plaza that had a Dukes of Hazzard Museum. I told the fam that the plaza needed an entire day to truly explore. It included: a Trump Store (adjacent to The Dukes) a place that put on pro wrestling shows that included midget wrestling, an “Ammo Depot”, a Bible Museum, and axe throwing place, and a few others I don’t remember. Sister Babe and Little Bob cheerfully offered to drop me off there for the day while… Read more »
Dolly was real where it counts.
My favorite Dolly Parton song is “I will always love you.”
Indeed, its one of my favorite songs, period.
And it seems to me, she lived it.
to mention the name of Taylor Schwift, Shift, Schmift,, in the same sentence with Dolly Parton should be enough to suspend you from the web for 90 days.
Exactly … That’s like making a comparison between Joe Biden and George Washington just because they both happened to be President at one time in their lives.
Agreed, very unfair comparison. My research has shown zero evidence that Washington ever sh*t himself in front of the Pope
