Harvard’s PRIVATE endowment has dwindled to a mere FIFTY BILLION DOLLARS or so.

Seven years of college down the drain? Might as well join the f***in’ Peace Corps
Here’s some great news for Tom Lehrer fans. In 2022, he set up a website with all of his song lyrics, many with recordings. He prefaced the list with a disclaimer, giving up all his rights to the material! https://tomlehrersongs.com/
Enjoy!
My father did research paid for by government grants. His pay was included in the grant, or the University where he worked wouldn’t have had him on board. (He wasn’t paid much.). His research led to well-known medications used today. He got no $$$ from Big Pharma at the time. (If he had, I’d have inherited Bermuda.). We suffered financially when the Carter Administration cut back on dollars used for basic research in the 1970s, his “best grant proposal ever” not financed and his career threatened. He was a huge fan of Tom Lehrer. Songs like “Be Prepared” (“be prepared… Read more »
For those who like their Kipling, here is Danegeld in full.

May Harvard go to Hell…oh wait , they already have.
Bill: Spending 7 years as a UF freshman; did you maintain a 0.0 GPA or were you like most of the student body and did not have a GPA?
As to student loans….
My parents paid for my education, taking out a loan
….but I was becoming a Chemical Engineer, a well paying job. In addition, the University of Cincinnati required in effect at least a year working in a company that used your degree for some of their workers. In my case, what I earned there paid for 3 of my 5 year degree. 4 to learn, one to earn.
My loan was paid off quickly. This was in the seventies, way before government loans raising the cost.
I had similar experience from University of Cincinnati (Aerospace Engineer) where working for Wright Patterson AFB, basically paid my loans off, and secured me w/guarenteed job when I graduated – because I had real-world and relavant experiences from working on real applications. Northrop hired me before I graduated and after a 6-months on F/A-18A production line (waiting for Top Secret DoD investigation), I was read into “Tacit Blue”. From there, it was off to the races. Co-op, where one ‘does’ as opposed to ‘studies’, should be mandatory.
I agree. Whenever possible, co-op jobs should be mandatory. And if not possible, that degree might just be a risk to get a job and pay off the loan. Like a degree in Lesbian Dance Theory🤣
I was also investigated fairly hard, due to an interview at the Uranium Enrichnent Plant at the Tennessee Valley Authority.
You know, where they in effect make the stuff for nuclear reactors and things that make a very large boom🤫
Already there are major companies including prestigious law firms, who will not take certain Harvard grads who have participated in behavior these organizations do not want associated with their businesses. There are Harvard grads who are blacklisted no matter their grades or status with the bar. This trend will continue and accelerate as Harvard University insists on permitting radical teachers to radicalize students. This is something that’s happening because of the market, not because of Donald Trump or any political pressure. If Harvard wants to commit suicide, I say we let ’em. I can’t think of any reason why the… Read more »
Scott – you’re absolutely correct that it isn’t a “free speech issue”. It’s a “free money issue.” Long past time to shut that down.
Trump – get your act together. With an endowment like that, SHUT DOWN the free money. Forget your “diversity of use” or crap. It’s nonsense.
