It is, by far, the deadliest animal on the planet and has likely killed more people than all human wars combined — the mosquito. Now, after millions of years of evolution, the tide may be turning in a particularly satisfying way as human-made drones shoot down mosquitos one at a time.

I’ve said this before, but I’ll say it again. I lived in Lake Charles louisiana near multiple swamps. Mosquitos were omnipresent. They came in two sizes. Not big and bigger. Nope. “Big enough to open screen doors, and small enough to go through them.” And the small ones formed in mass amounts such that they looked like small somewhat dark clouds. And they moved, but not nesessarily with any wind. Luckily for me, but not others near me, mosquitos consider me a meal of last resort. If there is anyone else nearby, I’m ignored, and others devoured.😏 Even if it… Read more »
I’ve always been kind of pissed at Noah. What a missed opportunity to leave those two damned mosquitoes off the Ark…
If you really wanted to take out a quadcopter drone, just tape about 3-6 feet of fishing line with a long fuzzy piece of yarn or a piece of cheesecloth tied to it to a drone of your own and have it fly over the other drone. You only need to cut the effective upward thrust until the other drone can’t support it’s weight. If the yarn drags in the thrust, it cuts the thrust of the remaining engines if the drone even manages to keep it’s balance. True putting mesh over the other drone’s props might allow it to… Read more »
There’s a device that was designed for fishermen. It’s a dragonfly facsimile, attached to a wire, that clips on your hat. As you move, it appears to be flying around and, because mosquitoes are afraid of it, it repels them. Worth a try?
But what about dragonflies? The adults and larvae eat mosquitoes exclusively. Are you willing to sacrifice them? The purpose of mosquitoes is to keep the human population in check. Alright, we can get rid of dragonflies.
I want one that works on spiders.
The biggest failure of Noah was that he didn’t kill that pair of mosquitoes he had in his Ark.
Sorry I didn’t see your post before I made mine. I wasted all those damned bits…
… not worthy
Do they have one that works on flies?
