Wonderful, positive, and timeless Christmas message, Bill. I was reminded of the Michael Pollan book, “The Botany of Desire.” which is an interesting take on human desires in the natural world.
I remember sitting with the Spiegel Christmas catalog when I was eight or nine years old, fantasizing about the 3 inch reflecting telescope in the catalog. I got the telescope for Christmas and took it outside to and started looking at stars that evening. To my initial disappointment, the stars in the telescope simply looked like tiny points of light, just like they looked without the telescope.
