It has been confirmed that Iran’s (former) Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei did not survive the first few hours of Operation Epic Fury. As Bill, Steve and Scott discuss in this episode, Iran as a civilization is a clear step above that of Iraq and two steps above that of Afghanistan. President Trump has declared Epic Fury a gift to the people of Iran to throw off their oppressors.
Will they take it?

Knowing I’ll bear the wrath of the knowledgable, I can’t help but again remind everyone about the U.S. dollar being the world’s default currency. Without this truth we couldn’t be $36-37 trillion dollars in debt without turning into Germany after WW I. The timing of this war in Iran, coming close to another effort by those seeking to challenge the US by submitting their currency as an alternative – China and Saudi Arabia being two of their number – is suspicious. Not that I’m unhappy about it. You have to think this foray by Trump puts the kibosh on this.… Read more »
There’s very, very little danger of the world switching to some other default currency. None of the other “candidates” are anywhere near the solidly reliable state of the U.S. dollar. As bad as our spending is we’re still orders of magnitude more desirable as a fiat currency than anyone else in the world. There is an enormous amount of inertia that would have to be overcome in order for that to happen as all the software and financial accounting systems would have to be re-written, re-built or replaced. Those systems have evolved and grown over decades since WWII and cannot… Read more »
You know from past comments that I never posted about this until our nation’s credit rating was devalued and I was trying to comprehend why and how we could spend without consequence. And I surely know that thinking like this is what got Jimmy Carter so deep into his navel that he ruined our economy. But, if you take your explanation as gospel, and I’m close myself, we can spend all the money we want nearly without consequence. So what if banks have to be paid and it ends up 75% of our tax burden? At some point deflating the… Read more »
There are always consequences for pretty much anything. It’s the degree of consequence that’s the issue. I can do something stupid and there are consequences. If I spit into the wind I lose some hydration and get it on my clothes but I don’t die. The degree is important. “What if” is a temptation to posit the worst case, or best case for that matter, scenario to reinforce a bias. It’s not a “what if” situation, it’s a “compared to what” situation. By which I mean, when it comes to other candidates for default reserve currencies who has better “money”… Read more »
I don’t know, by which I mean I have no inside information, how this is going to go. That said, I do know a thing or two from past experience, associations and observations. So I’m willing to hazard a WAG (Wild-Assed Guess). Our Humint (human intelligence) is pretty crappy, especially in that part of the world because it is so extremely difficult to place Americans in positions of advantage where they can pass as say, Iranians. There’s the matter of appearance, we don’t look right for that part of the world but there’s also the matter of temperament. Americans just… Read more »
Now can we see a carrier group assemble withing striking distance of the DNC HQ? As bad as the Mullahs were, the Democrats pose a far graver threat to the US.
I’ve been saying for decades that this nation building crap is absurd. It would only work if “those people” were like us and wanted the same things we want. Which is a ridiculous and arrogant view of the world.. They’re not and they don’t. What they will understand is punishment. If they get to the point where we have to punish them then we should do that and otherwise leave them to their own means and methods. If they learn the lesson, great. If not then we need to punish them again until they do. It appears so far that… Read more »
When was this episode recorded? It dropped some time yesterday but I don’t hear the guys talking about the strikes.
It says right at the beginning of the episode that it was recorded before Epic Fury got underway. You must have missed it.
They record on Tuesdays so anything that happens after last Tuesday and before next Tuesday’s recording session won’t show up until the next release.
Thanks, you’re right I missed it. Their system often puts them a few days behind the news cycle and it’s disappointing at a time like this.
No problem, always happy to help 🙂
Well, as we’ve seen over the past couple of days, the time of warnings about “don’t touch that electric fence” is over. We’ve been singing that tune for some time now (when previous administrations (lookin’ at you, Barry) weren’t sending over pallets of cash) and frankly, it was past time to put up or shut up. The hit on nuclear facilities was a good start, but as Fowler said, it wasn’t the only way to skin the Iranian cat. I find Mr. Bruce’s comments interesting and have no doubt much of what he’s saying is true. In any event, fully… Read more »
The Iranian missiles hit every one in the middle east but so far the casualty numbers are one Israeli woman, 50 injured. I suspect many missiles shot down fell on palestinian parts of the west bank because even a shot down missile hits something. So expect casualties there. Buildings in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and Jordan were hit but few casualties reported. The UAE’s main airports will be out of action for a day or so. It looks like the Iranian leaders met for a big meeting to order an attack and the Israelis and the USA had… Read more »
The Iranian leadership couldn’t “meet by video phone” BECAUSE they had foolishly cut off internet services inside the country. As we have seen in Ukraine, internet services are an integral component of modern warfighting in all instances where the belligerent(s) do not have alternate means of accomplishing the same functions. Iran had no alternate means. Even supposedly “mighty” Russia made the same mistake in relying on internet services and Iran failed to learn from Russia. No real surprise there. Also there’s the fact that Ayatollah Khamenei while suffering from a severe case of paranoid guilty conscience had cut off ALL… Read more »
I think Iran is on the way….
The USA already has a radio station in Iran. Its a drone loadout on a long endurance drone. Bills a bit behind the ball. The replacement government of Iran has been training in the West for 30+ years and everyone in Iran sings the future kings name, Reza Pahlav. And by training we suspect that includes 1000’s of commandos of Iranian decent. Not US boots on the ground or Mossad but Iranian counter revolutionary forces targeting Secret police at home. That’s been happening for a month.
Reza Pahlavi is a wealthy exiled king’s son who grew up on the Potomac with zero experience in governing anything and even less experience with anything resembling modern self-rule by the Iranian population. He is the son of a deposed monarch and all he knows is his father’s failed monarchy. There are really good reasons the U.S. State Dept. isn’t pushing him forward as a potential leader of Iran right now. It’s far more likely he’d be dead within hours of arriving in Iran than that he would lead his former nation into any sort of positive future. Or have… Read more »
