I love listening to Scott when he begins remembering his history. I began life in Holmesburg, Philadelphia before my dad took us away from the city. They settled in Malvern, at the end of the Mainline. Surrounded by Valley Forge, Phoenixville, K of P with the modern Queens Court, I biked for miles across the landscape before I could drive.
Thank you, Scott.
I’m a high school football referee in New York. I don’t know about college or the pros, but uncovered knees have been a problem for us all season. The State has recently made it a point of emphasis that high school players must wear knee pads and cover their knees or they can’t play. If they come on the field with knees exposed we are to send them off and issue an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty to the head coach. Nobody wants that, so we clean it up before the game.
Scott. I believe the book is one that I just bought. “Blind Spots” by Dr. Marty Makary.
Movie Hackers from the 90s had a line, one guy to another at a party, looking at a good looking girl – “Spandex. Its a privilege, not a right.” I don’t remember where I heard it, or who said it, but a guy was denying being the class troublemaker, but always got in trouble. Something about Jeff Dunham being in his class was the punchline. I’ve watched some of Simon’s stuff, he has something like 20 channels it feels like. Some of his stuff has been interesting but reading the comments, people will point out various things he, or really… Read more »
No knee pads faster yes. But not all positions are wearing…mostly fast running postions such as receivers.
In regard to Lasix: I was always nearsighted (myopic) and so wore contacts for distance vision. As I aged, my near vision, which was always excellent started to go, because the lenses in your eyes start to get stiffer and no longer flex as well as they did. At that point I’m wearing contacts (soft) for distance and glasses for near. (I tried the bifocal contacts and they did not work well for me.) So I had Lasix done to fix my distance vision and correct astigmatism. I still had to wear glasses for near vision, but no longer was… Read more »
Bodycam videos! DRINK! 🙂
Progressive glasses done properly are fantastic. Yes, some getting used to, but worth the effort.
I agree wholeheartedly, if they’re done right. When they get them right you don’t even notice the transition, you just learn to hold your head/eyes a certain way to get the right focus. You can also move your head/eyes to find the best focus at a wide range of distances across the progressive transition. It’s especially great for driving as you can see distances and just lower your gaze to see the instruments on the dashboard.
As an amateur bird photographer and a surgeon, progressive lenses are a miracle.
As long as you’re not a bird photographer and amateur surgeon…
Hey, Bill? Yeah, those clickbait thumbnails and titles? Every time I find one of those I click the “Do not recommend this channel” control. Fool me once and all that.
Good idea for you to reject that sort of policy for your content.
Old Billy Crystal joke when he is asked:
Were you the class clown?
no, I was the class comedian.
What is the difference?
the class clown is the guy who runs naked through graduation.
The class comedian is the guy who talk him into doing it.
