it’s just beyond comprehension that the press, the part of our culture meant to speak truth to power, is now part of the totalitarian regime supporting endless wars, Big Pharma, Big Ag, suppression of speech, suppression of facts, suppression of truth, and they’re doing it for the Democratic Party. That doesn’t fit with the brand the Dems created in the 1960s or the press that backed them, achieving peak power assassinating Nixon..

Newspapers went downhill when Reporters (tradespeople) became Journalists (credentialed college people).

My first impression when Scott began reading the laundry list of what Too Big Government “could do” was, “Gee, isn’t that pretty much what Obama did via the IRS, FBI, ATF, etc.?”

So Mr. Schulz-whatever (I’m not going to bother looking it up ) is afraid that Republicans might, just MIGHT do what the Democrats have been doing all along

I’m glad Scott made the comments about “independent journalism”. That was the number one thing that struck me when he was reading from the article.

Yeah, you’re doing well when you get a two-fer.

Sulzberger’s not independent from the people his paper is reporting on, and his employees are not independent from the corporation that is paying them to report. He isn’t worried the actual independents working on shoestring budgets with just a camera phone and a youtube channel are going to be audited, he’s just worried about his corporation and its paid shills.
