
The 80/20 rule seems to be built into nature: you use 20% of your tools 80% of the time as just one example. Donald Trump’s MAGA movement owns the political issues supported by roughly 80% of the country — immigration reform, closed border, energy independence, cutting government waste, etc. — which leaves the Democrats, whose only option has always been to reflexively oppose The Donald at every turn, firmly trapped in the fatal 20% of the pie.

The main difference between Republicans and Democrats philosophical approach to gaining and keeping power are polar opposites. The Democrats try to buy votes with taxpayer money. The Republicans try to increase prosperity so that people will put them in power and keep them there in order to become more prosperous and remain that way. In a nation as wealthy as the U.S., buying votes is a very realistic approach. We have a lot of wealth. Legacy Media? I’ve already moved on to calling them the Dinosaur Media. They’re walking corpses but just don’t know it yet.
Just like Dinosaurs, they’re still somewhat powerful from their sheer mass, but are easy to adapt to and are slowly but surely marching to extinction.
For much of my life I’ve heard that the country will go bankrupt if we don’t address our debt. We have kicked the can down the road to the point of absurdity. The reality of the 80/20 split on folks wanting the budget addressed will evaporate as soon as the recession hits. Any attempt to fix the problem will incur this issue.
