As we slowly stomp out the remaining bugs one by one, we are pleased to add the Members Only Blog Posts page, which can be accessed by scrolling down the home page, or by the Members> Read Members Only Blogs pull-down menu at the top of the page. I have also put out a bid to transfer all of the blog posts that were made in the 10 or so days between when we cloned off the new site and when it went live, so we hope to get those back — as well as a fully-reinstated forum — as quickly as possible.

For some reason, the comments section for each post/article is showing up twice (completely). Once in the two-column view, then again, centered by itself, below that.
Firefox 120.0 on Kubuntu 20.04, fwiw.
The long dropdown menus (i.e., Members) still load behind the page title, which makes several items on the menu inaccessible. For example, the links to the “Create Blog Post” and “My Blog Dashboard” are unusable, because the CSS z-index is too small for the menu. This means that the menus do not load in front of all other DOM elements on the page. This is a persistent bug!
FYI, I use the Google Chrome browser, but that should be irrelevant to this problem.
Here is the representative screenshot of this particular page that I forgot to attach.
Nailed it. Happens on Chrome, Brave browsers on Windows laptop, and my Android tablet and phone, both samsung.
Just commenting to be able to say I was the third person to post , I like the improvements in the site
I like the new site. Well done
I second that. It’s fast, graphically professional and at least as easy to navigate as the old site. There are always bugs and glitches in a new system so that’s to be expected. There are preparations that can be made and testing that can be done but you never know what’s going to go wrong with a new installation until you bring it online in a production environment.
I think the new site is going to be not only great for us members but also have the appeal of similar Conservative web presences to members and non-members alike.
I do my best to scramble to get to where I need to go on the site so I don’t have to look at mr. handsome over and over and over and over……fun for the 1st couple of times, then, well, a little much.
There was some discussion with Bill himself in an earlier thread/different page about putting nav buttons under “mr. handsome” so that we could just click rather than scroll down to where we wanted to go. I think that would be a very good move, myself. I understand that this is Bill’s site and the idea is to promote his viewpoints but I think “mr. handsome” could be a little smaller and the nav buttons would get us where we want to be a lot quicker. Not everyone is watching this on a phone or tablet. Even on a 4K screen… Read more »
As I’ve stared at computer monitors since they were orange on black, or was it green? Or white? So long I’ve forgotten….I now run on a 48″ 4k monitor and geeze….Bill, Bill, BILL, BILL! Just to be obnoxious, I ran to the end of the loop. Rather, and I do say ‘Raw-ther’* good photos of Natasha in there. Makes him look a bit more human. IMO of course. I’ll stop tossing bombs. It is his site AND he’s working like to devil to make it all work out. Good on him. General and trooper all in one. *pronounced in the… Read more »
Out for 11 days on my back coughing up a “White Lung”. Really the first time I’ve had a chance to look around on BWDC. Fun to be back, even better to be alive. Thanks, ACTS, for replying. I do appreciate it.
Yeah, me too on the orange on black or green on black monitors. I’m running 7 monitors. 2x 24″ (1080p), 3x 22″ @ various resolutions, 1x 32″ (1080p) and 1x 65″ (4k). This computer is part of my home theater setup and the 65″ is a Samsung smart TV. Some of those monitors are dedicated displays that always have the same thing on them, like my security camera system, calendar and my weather station data. I also have a tablet on this desk that is always set to display RadarScope doppler weather radar. Since I left CA it’s been a… Read more »
With you on keyboards. Also with you on tablets. I had a Samsung Note 9 “Phablet” and loved the size. Company downsized to the S23 and for me, great for phone and email and text. You had mentioned before the voluntary work you’re doing with weather, and your setup certainly helps you with that. Such a cool activity, and important too. I can see sitting here on the coast of Ca, typing…mild. Mild. Mild. Then, a cloud. Back to …mild. LOL. Damn white lung hanging on. Lots to cough up and get out, I guess no other way. Barking sea… Read more »
