‘We’re Going In’: Trump takes on Chicago

President Trump’s spectacular success in decimating the crime rate in Washington DC was one thing: that city exists in a No Man’s Land where the justification for federal intervention seemed clear-cut. But bypassing both city and state governments to bring the same peace and rule of law to what Lincoln called “that awful wicked city of Chicago” definitely raises the stakes. Is it worth the gamble?

If the feds go into Chicago to fight crime, the first thing they need to do is arrest all the judges & prosecutors who have handed out unusually lenient sentences. Call it suspicion of corruption & arrest the police who are involved as well.

Unfortunately, I can’t imagine that the people there will change their habits that created the crime in the first place. They’ll complain about crime, but then complain about harsh policing. Best choice is probably just to make sure the cancer doesn’t spread & let them burn themselves out.

President Trump needs to go to Congress and the American people and explain that the actions of the political leaders in those states and cities are actually an insurrection. And the insurrection justifies Federal involvement to save American lives.

Agree w/Scott. DC=Fed, Illinios=State, Chicago=City. Don’t give democrat imbecile socialists a pseudo facist narrative to lean on. Crime is consequence of POOR elected democrat run State +/or City policies (e.g. defund police, etc.). People need change, but until then … “Shanna, they bought their tickets, they knew what they were getting into. I say, let ’em crash!” FED needs to offer The People help, by talking over the State/City elected morons. Get The People to cry for help and then oust these imbeciles and their lost (woke/socialistic) causes. Do this NOW as Mid-Terms are around the corner! Focus efforts on… Read more »

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) spent over a decade under Federal supervision due to the civil rights consent decree after the Rampart corruption scandal. The consent decree was a federal oversight measure, initiated in 2001 after accusations of widespread corruption and unconstitutional practices, to mandate reforms and ensure accountability within the department.  In 2000, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and the City of Los Angeles agreed to a consent decree to avoid a federal lawsuit. The decree outlined reforms and placed the LAPD under federal supervision for a period of time.  The consent decree was lifted in May… Read more »

… and the 14th Amendment, equally as much of the U.S. Constitution as any other Article or Amendment, gave the Federal Government the power to make former slaves citizens. As usual, you only tell the part of the story that suits your anti-American agenda. Also as usual you write like a First Grade elementary kid.

cops ARE cowards because all cops that don’t arrest the politicians that tell them to not enforce the law are criminals. cops WILL murder for not wearing a seatbelt but not arrest a treasonous politician. burn it all to the ground.

burn it all to the ground.(sic)”

… and there it is. That’s your real goal. Everything you say or do is in support of and an excuse for that one, singular, simple-minded, ignorant aim. You don’t really want to change or improve anything, you just want to demolish this country and you’ll use every lame reason you can come up with to do that. You want to destroy the United States of America every bit as much as any other rabid anti-American. Thanks for at least being honest for once.

Given all the negative feedback that you continually receive, it is obvious to me that you are as moronic as you sound. Perhaps you should stop boring us with your continued idiotic rants.

Yeah, we’ve already covered that silly bullshit. You keep copying and pasting that Mugler v. Kansas and Mich. v. Duke stuff as though it magically makes your point. It does not and I’ve clearly demonstrated why it does not previously. Do you think that doing the same thing over and over is going to yield some new result? Apparently so. You do know that’s a classic definition of insanity, right? You’re a nut, and not a very clever nut at that. C’mon Komrade lil’ Kommie Donny, let’s discuss this. Repetition of nonsense is nothing but you showing us all what… Read more »

Other cities are different than DC, which is why i agree with the previous comments.
One interesting note – from here in the DC area, from the occasional peek into FaceBook I see biggest opposition to Trump having the National Guard in DC coming from white lefties who don’t live in the bad neighborhoods

That’s pretty much the definition of the American Radical Left. White Lefties that will be the last to suffer for their stupid policies that is.

NO! Absent an explicit request from the Gov. of Illinois there is NO Constitutional authority for the President of the USA to send in the National Guard. I’m a Trump supporter, I recognize the damage done by Democrat governance to those they govern. Washington DC is a special case viz a vis Federal intervention. Hypothetical: President Newsom finds that Florida is unacceptably dangerous due to its harshly enforced laws targeting illegal immigrants. President Newsom sends in the National Guard to protect these illegals from Florida law enforcement actions. The Federal government is one of limited powers. If we impermissibly expand… Read more »

There’s a problem with your position in the example you give using “President Newsom”. Those people in Chicago are not only residents of the City of Chicago and the State of Illinois, they are also American Citizens. When the local authorities are remiss in providing the American Citizens the protections the U.S. Constitution guarantees them (which includes “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness”) then the Federal Government is within its authority to take measures to correct that neglect. If Federal force can be used to free the slaves, which at the time were not even considered American citizens, and… Read more »

I didn’t read your entire post. I stopped when I read that the US Constitution guarantees “ life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”.
It doesn’t.
The Declaration of Independence mentions that as aspirational.
Go back and study up. We can talk then.
Best regards.

OH WOW! I made a mistake and transposed a sentence between the United States of America’s two foundational documents. I must be too stupid to talk to. Thank God we have YOU, Captain Perfect who never makes a mistake. Thank Heaven and all the Saints you caught that grievous unforgivable error and put a fallible human being like me in my place. WHEW! That was a close one, congrats on being so amazingly infallible. I’m impressed as hell. I’ll try harder to be perfect, like you. Really I will. I promise. Seriously.
