Two points. On the boy/girl thing, yup, no two ways about it, and no amount of “boyish” girls and “girly” boys will change this. Boys and girls generally are wired differently. I am hopeful that we are past “peak woke”. There seem to be some companies that are dialing back their VOCAL support and turning it into just regular support. Alas, mine does not seem to be one of them. I am not sure what support for the alphabet mafia and having DEI executive VPs does for our business growth in the Middle East, but hey, they don’t pay me for that stuff. Yes. Woke is based upon and comprised of lies, but never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups. The Dems have perfected a Matrix of ignorant voters, and that inertia will probably take longer than this election cycle to overcome.
For me it’s not the verisimilitude of the ass-kicking female action hero, it’s the lack of appeal to the target audience. I suppose if you’re some last wave feminist lesbian with a bad case of misandry then such things might appeal to you. I have to think that’s a pretty small segment of the paying audience for action shows though. It is interesting that some of the most popular female “kick-ass” characters were still decidedly feminine. Lucy Lawless as Xena – 5’10” of no doubt female Ripley – yep Sarah Connor – even after getting ripped for T2, she was still a she and the reliance was on weapons and smarts. Even Marvel had Scarlett Johansson use her femininity as a weapon and disguise more so than brute force. Great episode, gentlemen! While I revel in the recognition that the Harris campaign is poised to continue their woke agenda which as you say, the people just aren’t buying, we must remember that They Will Cheat in November! We must have an answer to that!
Another case in point was when I noticed the new Mad Max: Girl Boss movie was streaming on HBO. It seemed like good mindless action for background while I was lifting, so I gave it a whirl. In the first scene two girls are picking apples when bad guys show up. They hide and one girls sneaks down to cut their bikes’ fuel lines. Girls as heroes, but OK so far. I have to admit, when I first read your comment I was slightly offended that you were suggesting I was ripping off CD’s schtick.
Then I reread it in my head with his voice, including the movie clip visuals he would use and found myself cracking up by the end!
