Amherst welcomes students this fall with a vaccine mandate, a double-mask mandate (unless you have an N-95), no events with alcohol, no tail-gating, no parties, no students in restaurants and bars — or even in town — unless on a ‘business’ errand.
And Amherst isn’t alone. Will the hyper-regulated quarantine college save us from a coronavirus outbreak, or merely prove to be prophylactic against fun, and the death knell of campus life.
