Marooned on Starliner Island

Talk about overstaying your welcome… Boeing’s troubled Starliner remains docked at the International Space Station, some SIX TIMES LONGER than scheduled. NASA, once a world-striding giant of engineers, expert flight controllers and steeler-eyed test pilots has devolved into a standing army of the incompetent, the cowardly and the evasive. As Steve Green points out, it’s impossible to get a straight answer on what is going on up there… and the capsule gets older and less reliable by the day.

Maybe the “Principal(s)” consider reading the BW blog. If the 3 of you are too busy to read the blogs, how about just scanning the headlines?

I know, just a goofy idea. Dismiss as you wish, any or all of the 3 of you.
Or, refer to a story on the blog on occasion to close the feedback loop.
Possibly even comment. Whoa, I know that’s asking a lot. Busy Busy.

Boeing bullied Congress into forcing a down select to two vehicle and pushed Sierra Nevada out of the competition for commercial crew contracts. Then even later there was a push by Boeing to push SpaceX out as well. I mean…it is Boeing, of course they are the best in the business and only they can get crew into space. Can you imagine if… Read more »

Was glad Bill brought up supply lines and air handling. The space station exists only with supply from Earth. It is a closed system that can be inhabited by a fixed number of people for a fixed duration. Every ship that docks is also a supply ship. Have other unmanned ships arrived in the past 7 weeks with additional stores? This ought to be a story on the news every night. But so ought the days that American hostages have been in Gaza. BTW as of July 30, 2024 it is 298 days. August 1, 2024 will be 300 days.… Read more »
