Galaxy Guardian Zoe Saldana (who played the green-skinned Gamora) cries while offering Steven Canals’ Instagram audience a live apology for playing singer Nina Simone in a 2016 movie, because Simone was blacker than she. Saldana, who’s of Haitian, Dominican and Lebanese heritage, says she should have tried hard to get another actress to play the role, rather than use make-up to simulate the Simone skin tone.
