Two new innovators are helping Make the Future Great Again. One has a flying prototype for a hypersonic rotary detonation engine, and the other has nuclear rocket engines that attach to just about anything like an atomic outboard motor! Finally, the future is becoming what it used to be!

What ? a Bussard Ramjet is in site? next stop Ringworld!
CEO of Anduril, Palmer Luckey, as the way Scott describes him, sounds a lot like a real life Tony Stark. I like that.
….and come on….Palmer Luckey?
THIS ^^^ is a case in point for what I bugged you guys forever about being perfect weekend content. Keep the Backstage and current events for the week, and drop something fun like this on the weekend.
More of this, please!
I love these episodes. I don’t have the time or interest to dig up all this sort of stuff and I’m glad these guys keep an eye on that kind of thing for us. I’m also very interested in what our boys here have to say about it too. I’m glad as hell to see some good news and hope for the future. We also get the political angle, including why the other side wants to defeat us in this area and how we overcome their evil resistance to human innovation and progress in the righteous quest for ever increasing… Read more »
Yeah!….what he said…. I think we are having a bit of a nervous breakdown and it’s not from the obvious ‘Winning too much’, but from just tiny little victories we didn’t get in the previous admin. It’s taking some time, and more so for others, to get into the spirit of winning, innovating again, losing a little, re-structuring, trying again and winning the next time. I know I kept pinching myself with the incremental wins. Thinking ‘when’s the shoe going to drop’…. Shows like this particular R/A reinforces my feelings that there are good, bright, talented and decent people out… Read more »
Shout out to Dr. Fred Schauer, a propulsion researcher at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) that was principal investigator for detonation propulsion research (1997 – 2019). Dr. Schauer’s work and the AFRL’s initiatives in RDE technology were absolutely crucial for advancing these propulsion systems. Fred also helped me on several of my pulsed detonation PETA engine live fire test rigs at Purdue. Note: PETA = Pulsejet Engine Thrust Augmentor – not – People Eating Tasty Animals. Propulsion Geek Warning: Read at own risk. Unlike turbines that rely on subsonic flame combustion (deflagrations), RDE use supersonic detonations, which produce more… Read more »
Do you believe I actually understand what you said (well, almost all of it😉) and understood the graph?
Not an Aeronautic Engineer, but having a Chemical Engineer degree, I can read graphs. Keep it up for us nerds. Keeps my brain sharp (along with doing math in my head)
This year has been a real eye-opener for us boomers. The food pyramid was a fallacy. Animal fats being bad is false, too. The climate catastrophe is more of a hoax than even all of us “deniers” could ever conceive. Running out of carbon-based fuels isn’t real (we won’t even start getting methane out of the permafrost and deep oceans for a century). And nuclear energy is the greenest fuel of all. On top of that, when people get wealth and some degree of freedom, they choose to not have many children, so there is an easily predictable time, not… Read more »
Said this before, but it bears repeating.
We can make about any petrochemical using water and carbon dioxide. All you need is a lot of energy ( and the facilities). Nuclear is the solution to the energy problem.
Even more so, if we get fusion power going.
Please post the name of the munitions manufacturer that Scott saw on 60 minutes
