The pandemic lockdown was expected to create a baby boom — as young couples spent more time together alone — but the reverse has happened. Has anti-natalism, the belief that reproduction is morally wrong, created a baby bust. Are young people avoiding pro-creation because they don’t want to bring new lives into this awful, terrible, doomed world — or avoiding pregnancy to make the Earth safer for other — non-human — species?
