Having thoroughly eviscerated the Lord of the Rings franchise with mutton-faced girl bosses and buzzcut black elves, Amazon now turns its sights on another once-beloved part of our cultural heritage: Bond. James Bond.

I suspect these imbeciles running Amazon Media and Disney etc. think that the culture got the way it is because of the media content, movies and TV shows, that we consumed. So if they just change the media then the culture will follow and do what they want it to. Which is of course a power grab but it’s along the lines of waving a magic wand. They have it exactly backwards, the media we consumed was a reflection of the culture, not the other way around. We chose our entertainment because we LIKED that kind of thing, the entertainment… Read more »

My wife and son picked up almost all the books Ian Fleming wrote for me at a yard sale. The only one they did not get was “Chitty, Chitty Bang Bang” but did include the damning book he wrote about the diamond trade. i also have just about all the official Bond movies on Blue Ray (the set came out before Craig’s last outing). It did not include “Never Say Never Again” (a remake of ‘”Thunderball”)–but that was not an official Bond movie–that is why 007 is not mentioned. It was interesting to find out that some of the Bond… Read more »

“Bond appeared to die at the end–but in the next, it turns out he was thrown into the ocean when the building blew up and was rescued by a Japanese fisherwoman.” Sounds like a plausible way to re-start the Brand after “killing” 007 in last episode with a waterfall of missiles. As for Japanese, this too is also possible as the base that was blown up in the final scenes of “No Time to Die” is Lyutsifer Safin’s fictional island located in the Sea of Okhotsk (between Japan and Russia). If they re-boot to present, this seems likely. That said,… Read more »

I agree with your p.s. My main point on that was “Never Say Never Again” was not produced by the Broccoli group, so it is not considered as a “real” Bond movie. I mentioned how Fleming “killed” Bond only to bring him back (I think he was tired of writing about Bond but the series was too popular, so he brought Bond back) as maybe that is the plot line they will continue with in the next Bond movie. It would be plausible and if Amazon takes care of the Bond universe like the Broccoli group did, it could be… Read more »

In 1981, I went to a multi-plex to see, “For Your Eyes Only”, expecting to see a Bond film. About a third of the way through it, I walked out. I went back to the ticket counter to see what else was playing. It turned out that “Raiders of the Lost Arc” was just about to start. I didn’t know anything about that, but the ticket seller highly recommended it, so I went. From the first seconds to the very end, I got everything I was hoping for in the Bond film but didn’t get. The next Bond film was… Read more »

Actually, Bond does not have the PPk in all of the posters. His sidearm changed over the years.

For Dr. No, the pistol wasn’t available at the photo session, so they had to substitute an air pistol.

Re: Bond shooting Trent, Trent had just fired at Bond, so it was reasonable for Bond to return fire.

Yeah, agreed, DaD was pretty lame.

I am a huge 007 fan. I got a thumb drive with ALL 007’s on it … INCLUDING “Never Say Never Again” (where Sean was brought back after a monumental “On Her Magesty’s SS” flop) and original the “Casino Royal” spoof (w/cast of goofy characters like Peter Sellers & David Niven). I loved it when they went away from Roger Moore silly format (“View to a Kill” was terrible, despite Christofer Walken), then upgrading to a more ‘serious’ Pierce Brosnan, then (finally) back to the gritty Bond OG feel w/Daniel Craig. 007 was originally portrayed (by Ian Flemming) as a… Read more »

But do you have the original airing of “Casino Royale”? The one that CBS broadcasted on October 21, 1954? I think it was part of their Climax Theater productions and was about an hour long.

In this version, James Bond (Jimmy Bond) was in the CIA but the rest followed the book fairly well–as well as a live stage production could.

Well, I gotta ask… When they removed the gun, did they also gay-up the rest of the image? Seems to me that the Connery picture without the gun has a gay little smirk. But check out the “Dr. No” poster. That’s gotta be a come-hither sideways glance.

Or as I like to refer to the Star Wars sequel trilogy, and most Disney Star Wars for the matter: “Non-Fan Fiction”

Adam Carolla pointed out, liberals act like zoo keepers, they have to eliminate anything that might trigger us animals. If an alligator eats a flamingo in the zoo, they don’t blame the alligator, they blame who ever allowed him to get near the flamingos.

Of course that reminds me of the zoo with only one dog. It was a Shih Tzu.
