Abortion: The Third Rail of American Politics

In the New York Subway (and many others) there are three rails for each train. Two of them support the wheels of the carriage; but the third rail carries the electricity, so to step on the third rail is generally considered to be ill-advised. Sitting in for Bill Whittle this week, Alfonzo Rachel fearlessly rushes in where devils fear to tread in this grown-up conversation about this most sensitive of political issues.

Check out Dinesh D’Souza’s recent podcasts on YouTube. The portion of each one he has been drawing comparisons between what Lincoln dealt with on slavery issue and how Trump may be dealing with abortion issue. Very good discussion!

Well said but the real problem is that its the wrong question. “Why does an abortion have to be fatal to the Baby given all of the technology we have?” This is a battle between ideologies atheist verses Christian morality. Good verses evil and the Evil is the majority. Trump knows this. Some of us have been pushing this question to Trump. I’m not sure its gotten through. Abortion is four things: the pleasure of sex without consequences or responsibility; A sacrifice to Baal and other aliases of Satan; population reduction for those that believe the world is over populated,… Read more »

From what I’ve read and heard, I believe that Trump is following the Constitution in that what is not broached directly in the Constitution is to be left to the individual states. He is absolutely right. Honestly, and it may be rather shocking, leaving the abortion issue to the states may cause new leftists/Democrats to be statistically fewer. I am adamantly against the murder of abortion, but realistically, women who are so uncaring about the new life in them that they are willing to cast it off so they can continue their immoral behaviors, are going to find a way… Read more »

After reading all the previous posts and thinking more on it, I feel it would be advantageous if all the folks who definitely don’t want, and will never want, children to voluntarily sterilize themselves. Maybe instead of Planned Parenthood, tax funds that are used to support abortion could be used to help those folks get their wish.

Excellent discussion! I think it was a Dinesh DeSuza podcast where I heard this breakdown of the issue. We fight this battle in three arenas: the moral arena, the cultural arena, and the political arena. As a Catholic, I know life begins at conception. However, I know many people among my friends and family who disagree with me. This is where I try to address the issue, i.e. the cultural arena. It’s not easy.

Thank you for this discussion! I have long wondered: what would happen if, at a pro-abortion rally, in response to when they throw coat hangers into the crowd to represent the ‘tragedy’ of women not getting to use abortion as birth control, that some enterprising person would then open a plastic trash bag of doll parts and throw them onto the stage to show the results of their barbarity. My opinion is that the Pro-Life movement didn’t learn the lesson about ‘hearts and minds’ at all while they were working to get a majority in the Supreme Court to overturn… Read more »

Zo’s right, you can’t legalize murder because murder is not the government’s business to legalize in any form. The right to the life God gave you is yours, endowed by your Creator, and it is not for anyone under any circumstances to take away from you unjustly. In a perfect world. We don’t live in a perfect world. One of the biggest mistakes human beings make is to try to create a perfect world. The Left thinks they can create a human utopia if we’d just all go somewhere and die quietly so they could have their way. While it… Read more »

Here’s a Modest Proposal: The FASTEST way to crush the genocide of the unborn is to give the Left what they want in spades! Make them swallow their own medicine! How? Use their own dehumanizing arguments against them by carrying them through to their logical conclusion. – It’s just a clump of cells… – It’s Non-Viable Fetal Tissue… – It’s not a full human being… – It’s an unwanted parasite, a cancer… – You’re forcing a burden… The Pro-Murder cult repeatedly take these arguments all the way up to the moment of birth. WHY STOP THERE???!!! Stop prosecuting mothers and… Read more »

I’m not clear on how you can think that more murder is the solution to get less murder. To me that smells about the same as more racism is the solution to get less racism.

I believe you should rethink that a bit. As should anyone who clicked the thumbs up button on your comment.

It would be a huge mistake to think that the Left won’t kill even more innocents if the situation were created that allowed them to do that. They won’t recoil from the idea, they’ll embrace it.

I believe I smelled a huge amount of sarcasm in the post.

Sorry, you’re probably right and I missed that. This is such a serious subject it didn’t occur to me that there might be people who would take a less-than-serious stance on it.

I stand corrected.

The less-than-serious stances can also contain thought provoking ideas. And I definitely agree that this is a serious subject, one that I feel very strongly about. I abhor abuse of children, seniors and animals. I can think of no worse evil in this world.

This is true. I have dedicated a significant portion of my life defending the people I perceive as faultless against abuse by the predatory of mankind. I served in the military and in other capacities to that end. For a large part of my existence I have been not only been willing but expecting to lay down my life to provide that protection. “No greater love hath a man …” and all that. This experience has not always been pretty. I’m explaining not bragging. Boasting to people who could not possibly apply my experiences on a visceral level would be… Read more »

Well… Maybe juvenile delinquent abortion doesn’t go far enough. Perhaps we can extend it to Welfare Recipients (i.e. The Left’s Voting Base), and “undocumented immigrants.”

If you study demographic decline and breakout the numbers you will discover that that is already happening in a big way in many countries in Europe. All that’s really required for this to happen is for Christians and conservatives to step aside or to be driven aside.

As I say the hard part of ‘eternal damnation’ is not the damnation part. Its the eternal part. Damnation is easy. We have atheists working on both parts of that equation now.
